Manuel Azaña asiste a un te ofrecido por el Ateneo de Granada y pronuncia un breve discurso respondiendo a las palabras de su presidente, Hermenegildo Lanz. Azaña habla como presidente del Ateneo de Madrid y destaca la labor realizada por los Ateneos y las persecuciones de que fueron víctimas por la Dictadura. Defiende la actuación política del Ateneo de Madrid como una labor cultural y nacional desligada de intereses partidistas, enlace de la inteligencia con el progreso.
