History

Historiador español. Profesor emérito de la Universidad de Oviedo. Estudió en Barcelona, de cuya universidad fue profesor hasta que en 1965 obtuvo la cátedra de Arte de la Universidad de Oviedo, que ejercería de forma ininterrumpida hasta su jubilación. Destacó en el estudio del arte prerrománico asturiano, sobre el que publicó diversas investigaciones, y formó parte de la comisión para la restauración de las joyas de la Cámara Santa de la catedral de Oviedo. Era miembro de las Reales Academias de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, de Madrid, y Sant Jordi, de Barcelona.Spanish historian. Emeritus professor in the Universidad de Oviedo. He studied in Barcelona, where he was professor until 1965, year in which he obtained the PhD in Arts in the Universidad de Oviedo and went there. He taught there continuously until his retirement. He stood up in the study of pre-Romanesque art from Asturias, from which he published different works, and took part of the commission in charge of the restoration of the jewelry of the Holy Chamber of the Cathedral of Oviedo. A member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, and also the one of Madrid, Sant Jordi and Barcelona.
